The story of “Puntan Dos Amantes” is one that I was told when I was growing up. Along with stories of the “Taotaomona” and “Tåga the Boy Who Jumped to Rota.” The story of Two Lover’s Point seems like that of a modern love story gone awry. It tells the story of a young Spanish girl who was the daughter of a member of the Spanish elitist. The daughter was ordered by her powerful father to marry a Spanish military captain. After she heard the command she ran away to the beach where she met a Chamorro soldier. They fell in love and would meet at the beach everyday to be secluded. Once her father found out of the love he, along with the Spanish military, chased them to the end of the cliff. There they tied their hair into one knot and jumped off the cliff. This folktale has been passed down generation to generation, it is a story that signifies love and unity. There are many other tales from the island of Guam but this one is different and unique in its own respective way. It is not the classic story of a spirit or a ghost.
